The American Board of Periodontology is the only nationally recognized certification board for the dental specialty of periodontics. The ABP certifies the achievement of in-depth knowledge and proficiency in the full scope of periodontology and dental implant surgery through examination and continuous certification. Board certified periodontists are members of a distinguished group of practitioners who have made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty.
