Choman Hardi, PhD, is an educator, poet, and scholar whose work is informed by an intersectional approach to inequality. She is renowned for her pioneering activism on issues of gender and education. Hardi is the founder and director of the Center for Gender and Development Studies (CGDS) at the American University of Iraq- Sulaimani. CGDS initiated the first interdisciplinary gender studies minor in Iraq, and is developing Kurdish and Arabic resources for MENA universities, funded by the European Union. As a poet and an advocate of gender e quality, she has been facilitating writing workshops and providing training since 2004, and has contributed to national and international media programs, including BBC and RNZ.
