Kostyantyn Shiptya (b. 1975) is a Ukrainian artist living and working in Sumy, Ukraine. He graduated from Art School in 1992 and Sumy State University in 1997. He is exhibited and represented both nationally and internationally. His paintings have been featured in a wide variety of publications including the Museum of Ukraine. In the figurative works of Kostiantyn Shyptia, the female form dominates, both the personification of the natural beauty of a person and the embodiment of the author's symbolic ideas in complex compositions. His original style of works gravitates towards traditional canons, but with elements of symbolism, abstraction and grotesque. The works are filled with references to classical subjects, religious and philosophical themes, ancient history and their modern interpretation. There are many genre and everyday scenes in his paintings, where emotional human characters are vividly displayed. The vitality and uniqueness of the images often turns into a humorous grotesque. Some of the paintings are based on world literature. The folk themes of the artist's paintings are filled with love for the Motherland. He inspired images from Ukrainian history and folk legends into his paintings. His paintings are made in an allegorical-realistic manner, where the tragic and the comic are intertwined, which makes the author's style recognizable and unique. In his works, Kostiantyn Shyptia touches upon the eternal questions of being, love, beauty and the meaning of life. Each painting contains a mystery that the viewer must find and solve. Allegories, symbolism, beauty and human passions, metamorphoses of life - all these are favorite themes of the artist's creativity. Painting and graphics - the artist tries by various means to convey to the viewer the illusory world of dreams, from which the fabric of reality is woven.
