Founded in Bronx, NY, Start Lighthouse is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to
narrowing the literacy gap through a social justice lens. In the Bronx, 70%
of students do not read proficiently. The biggest barrier in the south
Bronx is book access. Start Lighthouse works to address this crisis by
creating compelling, rewarding reading experiences for children and
families.
