Cast Glass Sculpture

The current focus of my glass sculpture is on technology as subject matter, and hands-on personal involvement with every step of my work. I am experienced in the many processes necessary to produce high quality cast crystal glass sculpture. My artistic philosophy and practiced approach in casting glass embraces the chance and accidental beauty of naturally occurring irregularities and inclusions that are present in foundation cast glass processes. These processes and methods are rooted in the Egyptian lost wax tradition, in other words using rudimentary natural materials and ingredients to make my molds, like sand and plaster rather than commercially available compounds. My personal involvement continues by creating my own crucibles in which to hold and melt glass. Once melted, the molten glass is poured into the molds. The cooling and annealing process can take as long as two weeks. When ready, the sculptures are removed from the molds and polished by hand using mild abrasives, leather hide and cotton cloth.
